Purple Ribbon Day-Practitioners of Alternate Religions~Please pass on

Oh the things you find at MySpace...This one is worth passing on though.

All practitioners of Earth religions, Wicca, Shamanism, Druidry etc,
are being encouraged to wear a purple ribbon as a way of promoting religious tolerance and to potentially raise awareness.

From September 21-22 all practitioners of Earth religions, Wicca, Shamanism, Druidry,Witches etc. are going to wear little purple ribbons so everyone will know Who Else is...
a witch...wiccan...pagan...etc.

But....

No one can do this if they don't know about it, so pass the word along! This message goes to all Witches, Wiccans, Pagans from all sorts of traditions. We can make a day for Ourselves!! Actually, two days!!! You can buy a purple ribbon anywhere-at the dollar store, wal-mart, shoppers drug mart, anywhere...

Wear it in your Hair, or pin it up to your shirt. Make it public!!!

Spread the word.

Quotes from Michael Korda

I found this at Google's "Brainy Quote":

  • What you hear repeatedly you will eventually believe.

  • Your chances of success are directly proportional to the degree of pleasure you desire from what you do. If you are in a job you hate, face the fact squarely and get out.
  • The fastest way to succeed is to look as if you're playing by somebody else's rules, while quietly playing by your own.
  • The freedom to fail is vital if you're going to succeed. Most successful people fail from time to time, and it is a measure of their strength that failure merely propels them into some new attempt at success.
  • The more you can dream, the more you can do.
  • Never walk away from failure. On the contrary, study it carefully and imaginatively for its hidden assets.
  • Success has always been easy to measure. It is the distance between one's origins and one's final achievement.
  • Success on any major scale requires you to accept responsibility... in the final analysis, the one quality that all successful people have... is the ability to take on responsibility.

I looked up Michael Korda on Wikipedia. I remembered him as the author of "Queenie," whose story was a clearly a thinly disgused version of his aunt Merle Oberon's story (His uncle was her ex-husband Sir Alexander Korda). I saw the miniseries that was based on the book twice (about 10 years apart). I had also heard that he was not crazy about Auntie Merle, which does not surprise me if you read the book. I also vaguely remembered that he could be droll at times and some of the quotes not included have bits of that.

What I found more interesting about his entry than his career and his connection with the later Merle Oberon (she herself an interesting study in the fine art of passing) was that he is the father of Chris Korda, a child whose path clearly makes one say, "Wow and I thought I had it bad because my child won't clean up his room when I ask..." Chris' Church of Euthanasia is... ah... interesting-particularly its "Four Pillars" of suicide, abortion, cannibalism and sodomy.

----This is a Hug Certificate!---------

Send One to All Your Friends Who You Think Deserve A Hug
(Which, Hopefully Includes the Person Who Sent It to You) ! !

You might send it to your enemies as well!
It'll really make them stop & Think!!!

If you don't receive this back, nobody likes you,
and they wish you'd stop bugging them!

If you receive this back 1 time, open up!
Find more friends, enemies, or enemies pretending to be friends

If you receive this back 2 times .
You're off to a good start, unless you sent it to yourself.
That's cheating!

If you receive this back 3 times. You're a good friend."
I always knew this to be true... :)

You Are The Empress

You represent the ideal female figure: beauty and nurturing.
You bring security and harmony to many.
At times, you are also a very sensual person.
You are characterized by love, pleasure, and desire.

Your fortune:

You need to take some time to think about the role of commitment in your life.
It's possible you need to commit more to others, or deal with how others have treated you.
It is very important for you to support your friends and family right now, difficult as it may be.
You may need to look at your relationship with your mother, or your relationships as a mother.

The Invaders

"The Invaders" was a 1960s tv show that starred Roy Thinnes and had to do with aliens that invaded the Earth but that were hidden amongst us. Roy's character was one of the few that understood what was going on and waged a one man crusade against it.

I was not alive during its original run. I did watch it as a block of Sunday afternoon programming that the local station Channel 68 had. The block included "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea," "The Rookies" and "Charlie's Angels." I thought the pairing of the last two were interesting since "The Rookies" was Kate Jackson's first tv series and "Charlie's Angels" was the series that followed.

At any rate, "The Invaders" has a fan site: http://www.theinvaders.co.uk/.
